Sample resource · Onboarding

A clear 30/60/90-day ramp for every new hire.

This sample graphic turns onboarding into three manageable phases: learn and connect, contribute with support, then own defined work with regular feedback.

Sample onboarding roadmap

30

Days 1–30

Learn & connect

  • Complete required policy, safety, and systems training
  • Meet the team, key partners, and onboarding buddy
  • Shadow two core workflows
  • Agree on role outcomes and check-in schedule

Milestone: Explain the workflow and complete one guided task.

60

Days 31–60

Contribute with support

  • Own recurring work with manager review
  • Complete role-specific training
  • Ask for feedback and resolve blockers
  • Suggest one process improvement

Milestone: Deliver a defined work product to the agreed standard.

90

Days 61–90

Own & improve

  • Manage the agreed workflow more independently
  • Demonstrate required safety and quality practices
  • Review progress against role outcomes
  • Set the next 90-day development goals

Milestone: Complete the workflow independently and identify the next growth goal.

Manager check-in rhythm

Weekly

What is clear? What is blocked? What feedback or resource would help this week?

Days 30 & 60

Review evidence against milestones, adjust goals, and confirm support—no surprises.

Day 90

Close onboarding, recognize progress, document gaps, and set forward-looking goals.

Make the plan role-specific

A master template creates consistency, but each plan should reflect the role, work environment, required safety training, prior experience, and realistic measures. The hiring manager owns the role-specific goals and the regular conversations around them.
