Sample checklist

  1. Step 1

    Approve the role

Confirm business need, budget, classification, location, reporting line, essential duties, and decision owner.

  2. Step 2

    Build the role brief

Define must-have outcomes and skills. Review the job description for accessibility, clarity, and unnecessary barriers.

  3. Step 3

    Plan sourcing

Choose job boards, referrals, community partners, and outreach. Record where applicants came from.

  4. Step 4

    Use a structured interview

Ask the same role-related core questions, document job-related evidence, and avoid medical, family-status, age, or other protected-topic questions.

  5. Step 5

    Complete human review

Have accountable people compare evidence to the stated requirements. Do not use AI to score or make the decision.

  6. Step 6

    Verify and offer

Complete lawful checks and approvals, send the written offer, and avoid promises that conflict with policy or local law.

  7. Step 7

    Hand off to onboarding

Assign pre-start tasks, equipment, access, training, manager check-ins, and a role-specific 30/60/90 plan.
